Florence Biennale 2007

The sixth edition of the Biennale dell’Arte Contemporanea di Firenze was held in December 2007 in the historical setting of Fortezza da Basso. Over 800 artists from 76 countries  exhibited more than 2,500 works of art and took part in the exhibition for an extraordinary encounter between different cultures, styles and languages.

The actress Anne Archer was in Florence to award the Biennale with the Artists for Human Rights, association prize, for its support provided to the United Nations programme “Dialogue among civilisation” that the Biennale has been officially participating in since 2001.

The Biennale  included the presence of important artists individuals such as Gilbert & George, who received the “Lorenzo il Magnifico”award for their career. Gilbert & George, together with Tim Marlow, exhibition director of the White Cube Gallery of London, will met with the visitors and artists participating in the Biennale. A rich calendar of meetings, conferences and video projections had been organised (including a film made by Gilbert & George).

The Biennale was truly an exciting event and I met some wonderful artists from all over the world!
Here are a few links to some of these artists' sites as well as a link to some great videos taken during the event.
